BPO project:
The simultaneous optimisation of both strength and produceability of a butter tub.
The strength of the tub was increased while the material usage was reduced. This was accomplished using FEM analyses.

Simultaneously extensive mould flow analyses were used to optimise the geometry for produceability. A flowleader in the base of the tub is used to balance the flow of plastic during injection moulding. The flowleader was designed in such a way that excellent flow characteristics are achieved with in mould labels of different thickness.

Result
The weight of the tub was reduced by seven percent, maintaining sufficient strength. The balanced mould flow has provided fast and reliable production and in mould label positioning.
