In general trays for plants are made of foamed polystyrene, the new trays are made of polypropeen and were developed together with BPO. The new material has several advantages: its smooth surface causes easy dirt removal and the material does not absorb nutrition. A product that is used so intensive has to be strong, stiff and as light as possible. With use of FEM analyses BPO succeeded in optimising this product.

Result:

The stiffness, strength and weight of the tray are optimised; moreover an impact analysis of the legs of the tray was carried out.
