BPO has supported Thetford bv in the development of a new refrigerator door for the 2007 series of Hobby caravans. With the new kitchen design by Hobby as a starting point, BPO has delivered the construction of the door, including its storage compartments.

At the start of the project all relevant production techniques were summarized together with the detail solutions already present in the market. That resulted in a very short, efficient time in which the CAD files were delivered to the vacuum caster and the injection molder. In this project, BPO has arranged a prototype to communicate the visual aspects of the design with Hobby. The project typifies itself by the close contact between all parties, resulting in a product that satisfies the specific demands of the producer Thetford bv as well as the customer Hobby.

The asymmetric refrigerator door forms an optical unit with its neighboring parts as well as with the rounded sink; trade mark of the new Hobby kitchens. The storage compartments are made of translucent blue Terlux®, which provides next to an easy storage facility a fresh and colorful look. By integrating the desires of the customer in the design, a product is created that is an integral part of the kitchen.
