Optimisation of Superbus wheels
BPO project:
BPO has contributed to the prestigious Superbus project initiated and led by professor Wubbo Ockels of the Delft University of Technology by aiding the development of the electrical engines.
The goal of the project was to design a combination that was as light as possible while having an optimal rotor eigenfrequency. The rough shape of the rotor has been designed using the automated optimisation software Optistruct. Next to that thermal and stress analyses on the stator housing have been carried out. After the engineering and optimisation input of BPO the engine has been developed further by E2M Technologies in Amsterdam, the company that develops and builds the complete drive train for the Superbus.
